Overview
Canada’s outdated “first-past-the-post” voting system is broken. It forces people to vote out of fear instead of hope, rewards divisive politics, and shuts out new voices. I’m running to change that.
What is Ranked Choice Voting?
Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) lets you rank candidates in order of preference: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on. Here's how it works:
1. You rank the candidates on your ballot—your favorite as #1, then your next favorite as #2, and so on.
2. If a candidate gets more than 50% of the first-choice votes, they win—just like usual.
3. If no one gets a majority, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and everyone who picked
them as #1 has their vote counted for their next choice.
4. This process repeats—eliminating the lowest-ranked candidate and redistributing their votes—until one candidate has a majority and wins.
Why It Matters
✅ Freedom to Vote Your Heart
No more “strategic voting.” Choose who you really believe in—without fear of splitting the vote.
✅ Majority Rule
Winners need support from over 50% of voters—not just a slice of the pie. That means stronger mandates and better representation.
✅ Civility Over Division
Candidates need second-choice support to win, so they’re more likely to listen to everyone—not just attack opponents.
✅ A Level Playing Field
RCV breaks the two-party stranglehold. It gives independents and new voices a fighting chance.
What I’ll Do as Your MP
• Introduce legislation to allow and support RCV in federal elections
• Champion pilot programs in local and municipal elections
• Fight to make every vote count—so Parliament works for you, not the parties
This isn’t just electoral reform. It’s democratic renewal.
